Belgium
The Belgian Embassy hosted a recital and reception on July 21 to celebrate their national day.
Mandela day
The South African High Commission celebrated Mandela Day on July 25 at the National Archives with a concert and show.
Vikings
A recreation of an authentic Viking ship made a stop at the Britannia Yacht club on July 23 on it's way to the Danish Canadian National Museum in Alberta.
Egypt
The embassy of Egypt celebrated their national day with a lunchtime reception at their residence on July 23.
Pakistan
The Rothwell Gallery held a reception July 21 for the launch of Naela Chohan's new art exhibit, Art From the Heart: A Tribute to Women. One painting was sold for the benefit of displaced peoples in Pakistan's troubled Swat Valley.
French Cuisine Celebrated
The Cordon Blue hosted the premier of the film 'Julie and Julia' about legendary cookbook author Julia Child on July 27.

Bastille Day
The Embassy of France followed up on their Bastille Day Ball with a July 14 garden party, which attracted as many as 3000 guests, many of them French citizens.
Germany
Soon-to-be-departing German Ambassador Matthias Höpfner held a pleasant and well-attended garden buffet at his Rockcliffe residence July 16.
Peru
Peruvian Ambassador Jorge Juan Castaneda Mendez hosted a lunch featuring Peruvian cuisine for Canadian media on July 16.

France
The Embassy of France surpassed all expectations with their fabulous Bastille Day Ball on July 13. Imported cheese and champagne, dancing and an elegant setting made this party one to remember.
Sweden
The Embassy of Sweden held a beautiful garden party on July 9 to celebrate the country’s taking over of the presidency of the European Union from the Czech Republic.
Bahamas
The Bahamas High Commission celebrated the country’s national day with a reception July 13, where a Bahamian choir entertained the crowd.

Independence Day
The Embassy of the United States of America celebrated their Independence Day in typically grand fashion on July 4, with some 3000 guests invited to the grounds of the ambassador’s residence.
Venezuela
The Embassy of Venezuela celebrated their national day with a reception at the National Arts Centre July 6.

July 1, 2009

Diplomatic Cruise
House of Commons Speaker Peter Milliken and Senate Speaker Noel Kinsella hosted their annual diplomatic evening in Kingston, Ontario, on June 16. The family-friendly event included a cruise and barbeque.
Iceland
The Embassy of Iceland hosted a reception on June 24 to mark the country’s national day.
Nuncio's Party
The Apostolic Nuncio held a reception June 29 to celebrate the Vatican’s national day
Paraguay Going Away
Taiwan’s Representative in Ottawa David Lee hosted a going away party for his old friend, Paraguayan Ambassador Juan Aguirre Martinez, at his residence on June 25.
Korea
A ceremony to mark the 56th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice was held at the National War Memorial on June 28.
Romania
The Embassy of Romania commemorated 90 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Canada with a reception and concert at the National Gallery on June 29.
