St. George’s
The British High Commission served Pimm’s cocktails at a reception in honour of England’s patron saint on April 23.
Brazil
The Embassy of Brazil held a vernissage for an exhibit at St Brigid’s by photographer Christian Cravo.
Esprit de Corps
Embassy columnist and Esprit de Corps magazine publisher Scott Taylor threw a party on April 19 to celebrate the recent release of his new book Unreconciled Differences and Esprit de Corps’ 21st anniversary.
Turkey
On April 23, in honour of Children’s Day, the Council of Turkish-Canadians held a fundraising dinner for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and SOS Children’s Villages.

Zimbabwe
The Embassy of Zimbabwe celebrated the country’s national day with a reception on April 19 at the embassy on Somerset Strett.
Dining with the Ambassadors
On April 16, 11 high commissioners and ambassadors opened their residences for a sold-out benefit in support of the Friends of the Village of Rockcliffe Park Foundation.
Canada Arab Parliamentary Association
Senate Speaker Noel Kinsella hosted a reception in honour of the Council of Arab League Ambassadors to Canada and the Canada-Arab World Parliamentary Association on Parliament Hill on April 13.
Canada-Europe
The Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue group hosted a discussion of the book Green Leviathan: The Case for a Federal Role in Environmental Policy at the Lord Elgin hotel on April 19.
The Princess and Malaria
Princess Astrid of Belgium was on Parliament Hill on April 16 to raise awareness about malaria and call for an increased action in the fight against this disease that takes the lives of nearly one million people a year.

Turkey
The Turkish Embassy hosted a presentation on the Tayinat Archeological project on April 7 at the residences of the Turkish Ambassador.
Concert for the Pope
A concert was held at St. Patrick’s Basilica on April 6 in memory of the late pope John Paul II on the 5th anniversary of his death.
Book Launch
On April 9, the Polish Embassy hosted a reading from the book The Mermaid and the Messerschmitt, which talks about war as seen through women’s eyes.

Friends and colleagues from political and diplomatic circles bid farewell to departing Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Iremark at a reception at the residence on March 16.
Canada-Arab Economic Forum
The Embassy of Iraq hosted a reception at the Rideau Club on March 23 in honour of the annual Canada-Arab Economic Forum.
Pakistan
The Pakistani High Commission celebrated the country’s National Day on March 23 at the Crown Plaza hotel.
