The Canada-China Friendship Society and the Chinese Embassy held a New Year’s Banquet celebrating the Year of the Tiger at the Mandarin Ogilvie Restaurant on Feb. 21.
Serbia
The Serbian Embassy hosted a reception on Feb. 17 in honour of their visiting minister of justice.

The Iranian Embassy held a reception at the residence on Feb. 9 to mark the country’s national day and the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Diplomats’ Day
Russian Ambassador Georgiy Mamedov hosted this year’s annual Diplomats’ Day at the embassy on Feb. 11.
Snowflake Ball
Politicians, Ottawa society members and diplomats, including the German and Guatemalan ambassadors, partied in Venetian Carnival-style at the Snowflake Ball on Feb. 13. The lavish annual event raises money for colorectal cancer and colitis and Crohn’s disease research.

Concert for Haiti
The embassies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia presented a concert of classical music in support of Haiti at Ashbury College on Feb. 3.

The Embassy of Peru hosted a reception on Feb. 6 to celebrate Pisco Sour day, the Peruvian cocktail made from lime, egg whites, sugar and a fermented grape liquor called Pisco,
Embassy Day
The Canadian Council for the Blind held their Curling Fundraiser sponsored by many embassies in Ottawa on Feb. 6.
Skate for Haiti
The National Capital Commission, Ottawa’s Haitian community and the Canadian Red Cross joined together for the opening weekend of Winterlude to raise funds for disaster relief in Haiti. Donation boxes were set up along the Rideau Canal while Senator Jim Munson led a skate-a-thon.
Son Pham’s Birthday and Farewell!
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Duc Hung hosted a birthday party and going away party for Son Pham on Feb. 3. Son Pham came to Canada to get treatment for a vascular tumour on his face with help from the Children’s Bridge Foundation.
