Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan celebrated its independence day with a reception at the Best Western Plus Victoria Park Suites hotel in Ottawa on Dec. 8.
Thailand
The Thai Embassy celebrated Thailand’s national day on Dec. 5 with a reception at the Ottawa Convention Centre Trillium Ballroom.
UAE
The embassy of the United Arab Emirates celebrated its national day on Dec. 5 with a reception at the embassy in Ottawa.
British Christmas breakfast
The British High Commission foreign policy team hosted its Great British Christmas Breakfast on Dec. 13 at the high commission in downtown Ottawa.
Latin American art
The embassy of Argentina hosted a vernissage for an exhibition of Latin American art at St. Brigid’s Centre for Arts and Humanities on Nov 30.
EU Christmas concert
On Dec. 9 at the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica over 1,000 people attended the European Union Delegation’s 4th annual EU Christmas concert. Carols were sung in 18 languages by Chorale De La Salle, Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir, and Lisgar Collegiate String Ensemble.

The Ottawa Diplomatic Association held is inaugural ball reception at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa on Nov. 30.
Baltic States
Senate and House speakers Noël Kinsella and Andrew Scheer hosted a reception to mark the 20th anniversary of Canada’s diplomatic links with the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) on Nov. 30 in the Centre Block on Parliament Hill.
Finland
The Finnish Embassy celebrated Finland’s independence day on Dec. 1 with a reception at the ambassador’s Rockcliffe Park residence.
Christmas luncheon
The Canadian Federation of University Women’s Ottawa Diplomatic Hospitality Group, under the presidency of Ulle Baum, saw 150 people from more than 30 countries attend a Festive Christmas Luncheon at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on Dec. 2.
Romania
The Romanian Embassy celebrated Romania’s national day on Dec. 1 at Ottawa City Hall.
