Guatemalan Art
The Embassy of Guatemala hosted a vernissage for an exhibit of paintings at St. Bridgid’s Centre for the Arts on Nov. 18.
Sweden
The Canadian Museum of Nature and the Embassy of Sweden hosted an opening for the exhibit 'Herbarium Amoris,' botanical photos by the Swedish photographer Edvard Koinberg.
Romania
The Romanian Embassy hosted a reception on Nov. 19 for their visiting secretary of state for strategic affairs followed by a signing ceremony at DFAIT for a social security agreement between the Canada and Romania.
Berlin Wall History
The Swedish Embassy hosted a panel discussion on the fall of the Berlin Wall at the embassy on Nov. 19.
Latvia
The Latvian Embassy celebrated the country’s anniversary with a concert and reception on Nov. 17.
EU Film
The European Union Film Festival hosted a special opening night presentation on Nov. 18 of a Swedish film followed by a cocktail reception and the opening of a photo exhibit.

Royal tree planting
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, planted a tree on the grounds of the Governor General’s residence on Nov.12.
EU Film Festival
The Swedish embassy hosted a launch party for the EU Film Festival on Nov.10.
Czech Republic
The Embassy of the Czech Republic celebrated the country’s national day and the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution at a reception on Nov.16.

Algeria
The Embassy of Algeria fêted the country’s national day in style Nov. 5 with a well-attended reception at the Chateau Laurier.
France
The French embassy hosted an awards ceremony the evening of Nov. 5 for the winners of a number of prestigious fellowships for female scientists. Among the award sponsors were UNESCO, L’Oréal and Actua, a Canadian NGO aimed at boosting female education in science and engineering.
So long senator!
Ottawa’s Arab ambassadors teamed up Nov. 3 to bid farewell to an old friend, Independant Quebec Senator Marcel Prud’homme, who retired from the Senate last week upon turning 75 years old.
South Korea
The Canada-Korea Society held its annual general meeting the evening of Nov. 4, an event attended by members of Ottawa’s political and diplomatic communities.
Armenia
The wife of the chargé d’affaires of Armenia hosted a Slavic diplomatic hospitality group cultural morning at the embassy on Nov. 4

The Embassy of the Czech Republic hosted a fun and well-attended reception at the Sheraton the evening of Oct. 27 to celebrate the country’s national day.
Lebanon
The National Press Club Foundation held a going away dinner for Lebanese Ambassador Massoud Maalouf at the Sheraton the evening of Oct. 29.
Turkey
The Embassy of Turkey celebrated the country’s national day with a reception at Ambassador Rafet Akgänay’s home on Oct. 29.
Brazil
The Brazilian Embassy organized a performance by singer Adriana Calcanhotto on Oct. 22 at the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau.
'In Afghanistan'
The Afghan and Dutch embassies hosted a vernissage on Nov. 2 for the photo exhibit In Afghanistan, which runs up until Nov. 12 at 350 Albert St. in Ottawa.
