UN Council Pokes Holes in Canada's Rights Record

While some countries used a UN review as a way to attack Canada for supporting Israel, others addressed ongoing problems with Aboriginal issues and violence against women.

Iran, Pakistan, Cuba and a number of other countries used a review of Canada's human rights record in Geneva on Tuesday to take shots at it for its strong support for Israel at the United Nations.

Other countries like Australia, the Netherlands and Brazil commended Canada for upholding human rights norms and practices, but even they poked holes in Canada's image as a paragon of human rights.
