Calls for Canuck clemency

Opposition critics are pointing to a US appeal court ruling against a Canadian on death row in Montana as a reason for the government to press for his clemency, reported Canwest News Service. Ronald Smith confessed to killing two Americans in 1982 and is in Montana State Prison. He recently had his appeal rejected, but the decision was not unanimous.
