Recession Won't Hurt Immigrant Intake: Kenney

Despite the worsening economy, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said on Tuesday that he intends to maintain Canada's annual intake of up to 265,000 immigrants through 2009.

Making his first appearance before the Commons' Immigration committee, the minister said Canada is the only developed country that has not taken steps to cut its intake of new immigrants in response to the global financial crisis....
