Japanese government's plan to open agriculture not set in stone

Disasters in the Asian nation's north have prompted consultations that could affect pending free trade talks with Canada.

Despite a spring earthquake and tsunami that ravaged much of northern Japan's agriculture-rich industry and infrastructure, Canada is pressing ahead with bilateral meetings looking at the viability of a free trade agreement. However, success is no longer assured as it's unclear whether the Japanese government will move ahead with earlier promises to open its heavily-protected agricultural sector or reverse itself...
