Describing Kosovo as a 'success' disheartening for Afghan hopes

As everyone scrambles to predict a possible future outlook for war-ravaged Afghanistan, the negative variables continue to mount. In the power vacuum created by the failed August elections and nationwide apathy in anticipation of the now-cancelled Nov. 7 presidential run-off vote, the Taliban boldly stepped up their attacks.

October was by far the deadliest month of the war with 51 allied soldiers killed, including two more Canadians....
