Avoiding a Rights & Democracy Investigation

Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon's comment to reporters last week about the government's "complete trust" in the board of directors at Rights & Democracy was shocking and worthy of disdain.

The respected, government-funded organization that promotes human rights in developing countries like Zimbabwe and Burma is in complete disarray:

Its truly a tragedy that this government is unable to keep their ambitions for a right wing state within the confines of parliament and the instituions of government. The infiltration and subversion of a human rights organization is abhorrent. Too bad the local rags have no interest in bringing this information to the public.
