'It is our task to be interesting to Canada'

When word broke last April that Canada was planning to close its embassy in Sarajevo, the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina reacted in near disbelief.

Ever since the violent break up of the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, Canada had contributed thousands of peacekeepers and about $140 million in development assistance to the Balkan country to help ensure peace and stability in the region.
