Canada drops EU meat sanctions, other restrictions remain

The Canadian government has moved to eliminate its 12-year-old surtax on certain European Union meat products, bringing closer to an end a tit-for-tat trade battle that had festered since the 1990s.

While the repeal of the European Union Surtax Order is being seen as a positive step toward the resolution of a long and complicated international dispute, observers also say more obstacles must be overcome...
