How Canadian beef finally returned to South Korea

At least in this instance, the combination of litigation and diplomacy was a successful formula.

South Korea was the last major beef-importing country to hold out from resuming importation of Canadian beef, following the discovery of a case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalolpathy in Canada in 2003.

It was a long haul of nearly nine years, but Korea finally approved imports of Canadian beef on Jan. 20, 2012. So why, or how, did it finally end its holdout?
