Diplomatic absence from Angola lamented

Failure to open diplomatic, trade mission prompts questions from African officials, private sector.

The Foreign Affairs department's briefing note on Canadian-Angolan relations is not only optimistic, but goes to great pains to highlight the African nation's potential to Canada.

"Potential for growth in bilateral trade and investment between Canada and Angola is promising," the note reads. "Angola's post-conflict reconstruction needs are vast; therefore, increased trade and investment are important."
