Allied public opinion stacked against Afghan mission

Key countries start exiting southern Afghanistan next year.

US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown have been pushing allies to deploy troops to Afghanistan in recent weeks, following warnings by commanding Gen. Stanley McChrystal that a failure to contribute 40,000 additional troops could lead to "failure within a year."
