Finding the Recognition We Covet
On the eve of a major conference on transparency in the energy sector, the Financial Times of London reports that "Norway is widely seen as the only energy-rich country not to have the curse of corruption and poverty." It was doubtless a source of embarrassment for Norway that, in the same week, its state-oil company was forced to admit that it had paid a bribe to Iran in order to secure oil and gas contracts.
