As a youth growing up in New Brunswick, I lived for many years under the misapprehension that I was a major source of airborne pollution.

Aggrieved telephone calls from elderly neighbours served as our neighbourhood's pollution warning system, and they came fast and furious during the summer months when the sounds of Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and Ratt would waft from my open windows.
