Derek Burney wants Canadian foreign policy to be more U.S. and Asia focussed

Canada should stop putting notions of independence in its foreign policy, and start establishing a new level of trust with the United States, said Derek Burney on Mar. 14. " 'Independence' is not a legitimate objective for foreign policy. [...] If by 'independent' what is really meant is 'different from the U.S.,' that is a goal easily achieved... but it is unlikely to meet any tangible measure of effectiveness."...
