Non-governmental organizations fighting global poverty are cheering a united call from all three opposition parties to significantly increase the federal foreign aid budget. Leaders from the Conservatives, NDP and Bloc Quebecois sent a letter to Prime Minister Paul Martin, asking for a one-time cash injection, and then steady increases to the Official Development Assistance envelope.
