As the election looms, Canadian civilians in Afghanistan are on uncertain ground

A Canadian NGO worker in Afghanistan has been told by consulate officials that he may be unable to vote in the June 28 federal election if the hobbled mail system in that country doesn't deliver his ballot in time.

Steve Mason, a program manager for a development organization, said the message coming from the Canadian Embassy in Kabul has made him feel "disenfranchised, unappreciated and neglected."...
