There are few quiet places in New York City. Perhaps there are none. A person can sit still in a movie theatre on Broadway or in a church-- say, Our Lady of Victory Church close to the New York Stock Exchange-- and still feel a vibration and rumble from beneath your feet as regular as a train, which in fact it is.
