Despite poor ice conditions and a slumping seal market—thanks in large part to a European Union ban on the import of products starting this year—the government last week announced a 50,000-increase in this year's seal hunt quota.

CANADIAN FISHERIES MINISTER GAIL SHEA CALLED "STUPID" BY OWN OWN CANADIAN SEALERS.

Canadian DFO Fisheries Minister Gail Shea's actions have now been called "Stupid", not by any anti-sealer or activist at all, but by her very own Sealers.

Gail Shea actually raising the TAC Quota of seals to be killed, in the face of the lowest demand, worst market, tiniest pelt price in years, and in a year where melted ice has potentially killed nearly all of this years seal pups due to 95% of the Front being nothing but water, has been called by sources as one of the biggest Fisheries blunders of Canada of all time. Second only to the Canadian DFO Fisheries Minister recommending Newfoundlanders keep taking cod, and then causing the greatest devastation of a Canadian national fishery in recorded history. The DFO, which also "manages" the seal hunt made such inept and incompetent decisions regarding the Fisheries that they destroyed the entire Grand Banks fishery and put 20-thousand Canadian citizens out of work, and it has still not recovered.

Now, even the Seal Hunters themselves are indicating Gail Shea's incompetence, even so far as going on record quoted as calling her: "stupid".

"To us sealers, it sounds a little stupid," said Troake, who has more than 50 years' experience hunting seals, in response to Gail Shea's incompetence regarding raising the seal hunt quota by 50,000.







The current seal population estimate stands at 6.9 million, more than triple what it was in the 1970s, according to the department.

This is an already known and debunked propaganda item that is often spread by the DFO and sealers. What they are doing here is lying by omission. This is a ruse and a trick, and anyone caught republishing that line attempting to state it, is complicit in "yellow-journalism".

The actual information is that in the past, as far back as the 1950's the natural seal population in the region was upwards of 40 MILLION! This is the natural equilibrium seal population which existed for decades in Canada.

Canadian Sealers began beating and killing seals by the thousands, with nary a regulation, for decades, UNTIL...a crisis situation emerged wherein Canadian sealers had nearly decimated the entire seal population from 40 million down to only 1.9 million left! That means Canadian Sealers killed off nearly 95% of the seals, until there were barely 0.04 of them left! This is what happened in the 1970's. This occurred circa 1971 & 1972, and this represents the LOWEST most devastated point in history.

It has taken more than 30+ years.. over 3 entire decades for the seal population to recover from that 1.9 million, back up to the 6million figure (that 6.7 figure is also erroneous and has been documented as being inaccurate as well due to flawed methodology by the DFO in measurement.)

At 6million out of 40million, today's seal population has currently recovered ONLY to 0.15 of the former natural population! That's right, the current population of seals is ONLY 0.15% of what it is naturally supposed to be, and what it was in the past at the same exact time when the fish in the Grand Banks were so plentiful that the saying was there were so many fish in the Grand Banks that you could walk on water!

What sealers, pro-sealers, and the DFO do, is they omit the fact that the seal population was naturally 40 million, and at the same time the seals were plenty, the fish were absolutely brimming aplenty.

What the DFO and pro-sealers do, is they attempt to dupe the public, and you, by out of the blue copping the seal population figure from 1972, right at the point AFTER sealers had absolutely devastaded the population, as if seals did not *exist* before the year 1972 or something, and then they attempt to assert that "the seal population is Exploding!!" or "the seal population has tripled!" by attempting to take the current 6 million, and dividing it by the nearly decimated figure of 1.9 million. This is where they obtain this 3x figure. It is blatant mis-information. The 1972 figure is cherry picked out in order to artificially inflate the population figures, and they make it seem like seals are "exploding" or "tripling" when in fact it was sealers that killed them down to only 0.04 remaining in the first place, and despite the fact that it has taken over 3 entire decades for the seals to even come back to the point of 0.15 of their original natural population numbers!

Anyone who posts this "seal population has tripled" statement is cooking the books. If you EVER see that written in an article, this will immediately tell you that the author has not checked any of his facts, and you can dismiss any user who attempts to use that line as untrusted. This is a known and debunked fraud.

<B>To give you an analogy, to illustrate the scope of what Sealers and the DFO are doing when they attempt to scam people with this, consider the following illustration:</B>

<B>Say the normal human number of teeth in a woman's mouth is 40. Then a man comes along, and he beats that woman repeatedly in the face so hard that he breaks her teeth and the man punches the girl in the mouth so hard that he knocks all her teeth out, except 2. THAT is essentially what the men who are sealers did to the seals in the years leading up to 1972. </B>

<B>Now, let's say that the woman, who continues to be beaten, but is poor, finally saves up some money, over the course of over 30 years time, to go to the dentist and have barely 4 of her teeth repaired, about 1 tooth for every 6 years. And now the woman has 6 teeth back, out of her entire normal population of 40. That is the current state. NOW, the Man who has been beating her comes along, and cries, AHA! Look at that, she has 6 teeth now, instead of the 2 I left her with, her teeth have TRIPLED! If we don't stop it, they are going to take over, the population is exploding! So it looks like I'm going to have to beat that woman in the face again and start knocking some more of her teeth out. To keep her in check.</B>

THAT is effectively what the DFO and seal beaters are doing currently. You can blatantly see that when Gail Shea, and the DFO start raising the TAC by over 50-thousand, when there is absolutely NO market, and the lack of ice has reached 95% and has killed what may be 95% of this years seals being born, that the DFO's actions are Not based on science, not based upon responsible management, but merely based on false concocted figures, and political scapegoat backlash, meant to taunt, and retalliate like a Gail Shea 2 yr old sealer temper tantrum.

Remember, this is the same Gail Shea of the DFO that was caught mis-appropriating government funds and sending out pro-seal-hunt PR releases on Government Letterhead in violation of ethics rules.

And the same Gail Shea who condones seal meat, which is known to contain Methyl Mercuric toxin, which causes stunted abnormal brain growth, and brain tissue damage if ingested, to be served at the Canadian Parliament cafeteria to staff and officials. Seal meat can cause one to give birth to children who are deformed with birth defects. And yet this is what this individual is touting for Canadian Citizens, families, and parents, and Canadian children to ingest.

The CFIA even captured samples of seal oil that were found to be unfit for human consumption, and infected, and yet Gail Shea and the sealers in the sealing industry entice people to eat it and also attempt to push it for consumption by families in the EU. These items are known to contain Methyl Mercury, a highly toxic contaminent in seal meat. Yet Gail Shea is upset that citizens in the EU refuse to eat it, and is arranging ways for Canadians to consume more of it. Cheering its consumption, and thereby hurting hundreds and thousands of Candian citizens including Canadian children.

The Seal Hunt is a financial loss to the nation, an economic disaster for Canada, and sealers and pro-sealers bring dishonor to every Good Canadian, and bring a stain upon Canada's good flag. Every Canadian citizen pays for the losses that these 0.00005 of Sealers inflict upon the 99.9999% of good Canadians. Every hard-working Canadian citizens paycheck is docked to pay for the losses inflicted on Canada by sealers. Every Canadian citizens life and family is jeopardized by Gail Shea and sealers pushing more and more people to ingest seal meat unfit for human consumption and tainted with chemicals that can cause neurological damage to their children. Now Gail Shea wants to look into possibilities of getting Asians to ingest it. And to continue potentially poisoning Canadian citizens.

It's time to put a stop to the hunt. And if you EVER see that "the popualation has tripled!' line, you can immediately know that the author of the article is uninformed on the actual information, and is pulling yellow-journalism and the author and said article can be considered debunked.

Any person working to STOP the seal hunt is a Canadian patriot, restoring pride and honor to the flag of Canada again, and helping to save Canadian citizens lives.

Any one caught promoting or advocating the seal hunt is a betrayor against all the good people of Canada, and who is facilitating the human poisoning of good Canadian families and Canadian children.

By Alishia Fox 		Gail Shea has made a series of poor decisions that are NOT based upon science since becoming the Minister of the DFO.

This is only ONE of the many examples of government waste and ignorant politicians who only care about one thing - votes.

The commercial seal hunt should be cancelled. For good.

Let's give the sealers alternative options and start building more reliable, green industries that are proven to be more lucrative and better for our planet/oceans.

Gail's got to go!
