The case for travel and hospitality funds

When, in 2009, cumulative core budget cuts forced, among other things, a freeze in the travel and hospitality funds of Canadian embassies, seriously handicapping our representatives abroad, official Ottawa shrugged.

No one came to the defence of the department that Ottawa, especially the PMO, loves to hate. So the "dips" had to stick to their desks. So what? No one, or almost no one in Ottawa, has access...

this to gain votes. It's all part of his party's strategy, which is to have vnyreoee vote for them even though they have been rife with corruption and such for the last 12 years.Please don't tar all Canadians by his brush. He does not speak for me, nor for the 65% of Canadians who did *not* vote for his party last election.

I wrote:The point of the article is not that rgielious people shouldn't be allowed to hold public office. I don't know how you could POSSIBLY get that from what the author wrote.The point is that if you believe in ridiculous weirdness like the impending return of a Jewish carpenter or a hidden imam from the 9th century, people should know about that. If my strategy on foreign policy is influenced by my belief that Scotland is covertly ruled by a Loch Ness Monster cabal, I probably shouldn't be Minister of Foreign Affairs. Similarly, someone who thinks that the world is 6,000 years old shouldn't be a science advisor to his own kids, let alone to the Prime Minister of a country.
