Scott Taylor is a no-nonsense top-notch defense analyst who really knows his stuff. His take on this issue is bang right-on, The complete incompetence shown in the handling of this issue should make every Canadian take pause. Discrediting one of our highest-ranking, and reputable, intelligence officials, Mr. Colvin, in the name of good ol' face-saving politics, was just plain cowardice, and a slap in the face to any Canadian public servant, including our men and women in uniform.

I have two observations to make on this column. One is that Ms. Blatchford was honest enough, in the Globe and Mail, in one of her first stories on this war, to state that she had fallen in love with the military, the comradeship and the attitude of the soldiers. This means that she is not, and does not intend to be, a neutral observer and useless as a journalist. She seems to need a surrogate family and has found one. Secondly, General Mackenzie is on the board of directors of at least four corporations that could be seen to be able to profit from war, and this possible conflict of interest should procede any public pronouncement of the good general.
